Deuce Gruden

Deuce Gruden is a former football running back and the eldest child of Jon and Cindy Gruden.

He was born on January 19, 1994. Just like his father, Deuce turned to a coaching career.

So far, he’s worked as a coaching intern with Washington Redskins and proceeded to get a permanent position afterward. He left the job to go work with the Oakland Raiders, along with his father.
He is currently in his third season as a strength and conditioning assistant.

Deuce graduated from Lafayette College where he earned a degree in biology, while also playing running back for the Leopards. He also earned a Masters’s from A.T. Still University in Kinesiology with a focus on corrective exercise. In addition, he is certified in USA weightlifting coaching and as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

Cindy Gruden’s husband was born Jon David Gruden on August 17, 1963. Widely known only as Jon Gruden, the Sandusky, Ohio native; followed into the footsteps of his father, Jim -who served as a professional football regional scout, running backs coach, and director of player personnel for the Tampa Bay Bucs.

Jon Gruden was raised along with two brothers, Jay, and James Gruden. You’ve probably heard about Jay Gruden before since he is also an NFL coach. It is safe to say their brother, James -who works as a radiologist, chose a different path.

Jon played football in college. Following his high school graduation in 1981, Gruden attended Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio. After one year, he transferred to the University of Dayton; where he was a three-year letterman and backup quarterback for the Flyers.
Gruden graduated with a degree in communications from the University of Dayton.

In the early 90’s he landed a job with the Green Bay Packers, as their special offensive assistant/wide receivers coach. After three seasons in Green Bay, Gruden moved on to become the offensive coordinator of the Philadelphia Eagles. Gruden then was chosen to be the Raiders’ new head coach for the 1998 season.

After compiling a 40–28 win-loss record (including playoffs) in four seasons with the Raiders, Gruden became head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2002. Jon took home the Super Bowl championship (XXXVII) in his first year with the Buccaneers. Tampa fired him in January 2009, after seven seasons with the team.

Gruden then put his communications degree to use when joined ESPN. He worked as a color analyst on its Monday Night Football telecasts. The following year he created the Fired Football Coaches Association.
The 57-year-old is currently the head coach of the Raiders -where he has spent the last three seasons. The team hired him in January 2018.

Jon and Cindy Gruden became husband and wife in 1991. She met her future husband while she was a college student. Now, they have been married for nearly three decades.

Jon and Cindy Brooks, who now goes as Cindy Gruden, have known each other for over 30-years and have been husband and wife for 29 of those years.

She recalled during an interview about meeting her hubby

“I know I was amazed at all the parking tickets he had at Tennessee. The coaches would send him down to The Strip (Knoxville’s main drag) to get something to eat for everybody, and of course, parking was just terrible, so he’d just get a place and get a ticket. I don’t know if he ever paid all those tickets.”

Fast forward to present times, the couple has built a solid family together.

She was born Cindy Brooks in Knoxville, Tennessee, and largely spent most of her younger years there.

The mom of three has been involved a lot of charity work over the years. Together with her husband, they have worked together with various cancer-related philanthropic works plus they have raised funds for a wide variety of charitable organizations.

In 2015, the Moffitt Cancer Center dedicated the Gruden Huddle Room at the Moffitt McKinley Outpatient Center in recognition of their support.

In addition to charity work, Cindy has been the head instructor for the National Cheerleader Association and has worked with different high schools and colleges as an instructor. She is also a fitness instructor.

Jon Gruden Son

Jon and Cindy Gruden are the proud parents of three sons, Deuce, Michael, and Jayson Gruden.

Deuce is perhaps the most known of the three since he also chose to work in the NFL. According to his Raiders bio, Deuce Gruden served as a strength and conditioning assistant with the Washington Redskins for two seasons (2016-17). He was promoted as a full-time strength and conditioning coach during the 2017 offseason.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Deuce played an integral role in training athletes at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports in Orlando for Jon Gruden’s QB Camp, where he led workouts for college players preparing to participate in the NFL Combine.

During his time with the Washington Redskins, Deuce worked under his uncle, Jay Gruden.

Michael Gruden who goes by Mike appears to be into music. According to his LinkedIn, he is a Music Producer at HEXED. He studied marketing at the University of Tennessee.

Jayson Gruden has turned to sports just not the one his older brother and father picked. Jayson is into MMA. He made his debut in 2018

Jon Gruden’s younger brother, Jay Gruden is the current offensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The 53-year-old Ohio native is a former quarterback who played at the University of Louisville, recording 7,024 passing yards and 44 touchdowns during his career.

He never made it into the NFL but put together an impressive career in the Arena Football League; winning the ArenaBowl title four times as quarterback of the Tampa Bay Storm and he was named league MVP in 1992.

Jay is known for having served as head coach of the Washington Redskins in 2014. He had previously served as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2011 to 2013.

Jay is happily married to his wife Sherry Gruden.

Sherry who hails from Louisville, Kentucky; met her husband while attending the University of Louisville. They tied the knot in 1999 and together they have three children, sons: Jack, J.J., and Joey.
